Idiot For Jesus: Trying to repudiate statements made by Dr. Anthony Fauci, leading evangelist Franklin Graham claims that “science isn’t truth – God is.”
Graham, posting on Facebook, expressed anger that one of the nation’s top infectious disease experts, Dr. Anthony Fauci, suggested that “anti-science bias” is a problem in the United States, particularly when it comes to the response to the current coronavirus pandemic.
One of the problems we face in the United States is that unfortunately, there is a combination of an anti-science bias that people are — for reasons that sometimes are, you know, inconceivable and not understandable — they just don’t believe science and they don’t believe authority.
“So when they see someone up in the White House, which has an air of authority to it, who’s talking about science, that there are some people who just don’t believe that — and that’s unfortunate because, you know, science is truth.
Fauci’s claim is reasonable and true, and should not be controversial. But for Graham, Fauci’s claim that “science is truth” was simply unacceptable. On Facebook an angry Graham declared:
This week Dr. Anthony Fauci made the statement that “science is truth.” Really? I would beg to differ. Science may be a quest for truth, but it is certainly fallible. I’m not against science of course, but we know that scientists often disagree. As an example, the early Imperial College London coronavirus model has since proven wrong, and disputes continue today between the experts about the model used more recently in the U.S. And, man did not evolve from apes or tadpoles as many scientists say. That’s just not true—God created man and woman as the Bible says.

Science isn’t truth—God is. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6). I hope that everyone will come to know The Truth (Jesus Christ) who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This Truth can change your life for eternity!
Wew lad! Graham’s rant is childish, and idiotic. To claim that “man did not evolve from apes or tadpoles as many scientists say” is to surrender all credibility in any adult discussion.
But Graham’s willful ignorance is exactly the sort of ignorance that Dr. Fauci was talking about. Indeed, the anti-science, anti-intellectual stance exemplified by Graham is all too common in American politics, and has been for a long time.
Observing this willful ignorance, the great American writer and intellectual Issac Asimov once declared:
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’
And the sad fact is, Franklin Graham is a prominent leader in this “cult of ignorance” that plagues the country.
Bottom line: Leading evangelist Franklin Graham rejects science, and claims “science isn’t truth – God is.”
