Impeachment Blues: Angry that President Donald Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives, conservative Christians claim they are being persecuted.
As one might expect, emotionally immature and morally deficient conservative Christians are making the impeachment of Donald Trump all about themselves, taking the impeachment of a corrupt public official as an attack on conservative Christian values.
In a joint statement issued by Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and Rev. Johnnie Moore, the president of The Congress of Christian Leaders, conservative Christians claim that “millions of Americans recognize that the House leadership is not actually impeaching the president of the United States but the policies and people that he represents.”
The statement continues:
The Democrats in the House impeached millions of God-fearing, family-loving and patriotic Americans from the Democrat and Republican parties.
…
God bless our country as we endure this political drama on the eve of the most sacred occasion of our envied democracy, the year of the presidential election.
An op-ed written by Trump Evangelical Advisory Council member Mike Evans and published by the conservative Christian publication Charisma News makes a similar point, arguing that Trump was impeached because of his “moral clarity,” while lamenting the fact that conservative Christians who support Trump are labeled “ignorant, evil, racist bigots”:
Simply put, Donald Trump’s view is one of moral clarity, of good versus evil. Liberals are generally moral relativists, rejecting absolute standards of good and evil, right and wrong.
They have finally created a theatrical impeachment demonstration to showcase their anger. After controlling the government under Barack Obama, the liberal left has run headlong into a wall and is attempting to force its will on America’s citizens.
The insults and verbal abuse are so severe that anyone who contradicts them is labeled “ignorant, evil, racist and bigot.” The dumbing down of America has begun, and all in the name of political correctness and a new godless globalism.
The irony of conservative Christians claiming Trump as an example of “moral clarity,” and claiming that anyone else but conservative Christians are responsible for “the dumbing down of America” cannot be overstated. For the record, Trump is void of any moral clarity whatsoever, while conservative Christians have been and continue to be responsible for any “dumbing down” going on in America.
Bottom line: Conservative Christians are angry that Trump has been impeached, and claim that Trump’s impeachment is an attack on conservative Christian values.
