Maybe The Real Danger Is Mike Huckabee: Conservative Christian Mike Huckabee claims that COVID-19 isn’t the real danger, because the real danger is the “virus of sin.”
In a recent post for the Christian publication Charisma News, the Trump-loving former Arkansas Governor and former Republican presidential candidate wrote that the risk from the coronavirus was “remote” while the death rate from the “virus of sin” is 100%:
I take this pandemic seriously and you should as well. But statistically, your risk of getting the virus is still remote and the risk of dying from it is minimal.
But there is a virus that we hear almost nothing about these days, and it is absolutely going to touch you. In fact, the death rate from it is 100%.
I speak of the virus of sin, an infection that has been passed on since the beginning of human existence. It’s a virus that we all have and are born with.
There is light in the midst of the darkness, and even if you avoid coronavirus, you need to take steps to protect yourself from an even more deadly virus, but one that already has a cure and a cure that costs you nothing but your willingness to accept it.
Huckabee is a dangerous fool trying to minimize the clear and present danger of COVID-19 to score cheap propaganda points for his deplorable religious superstitions.
Huckabee, a Christian minister who served as the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, ran as a candidate in the United States Republican presidential primaries in both 2008 and 2016, and is also the father of former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, an equally deplorable individual.
And for the record, there is no such thing as the “virus of sin.” Sin is an imaginary disease, invented to sell an imaginary cure. It is part of a false conceptual framework (Christianity) used to take advantage of and manipulate gullible and weak-minded individuals.
As for Huckabee, it is no secret that he is a deplorable and deranged Christian extremist. In the past Huckabee promised that if elected president he would fight the “secular theocracy” that is supposedly destroying Christian liberty in America; made the false claim that pastors would face civil and criminal penalties if they refused to perform same-sex marriage; and said if elected president he would ignore the Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality because the Supreme Court is not the “Supreme Being.”
Indeed, the man is a monster. In 2015 this radical Christian extremist suggested that poor people convicted of nonviolent crimes should be sold into slavery, arguing that Biblical slavery is preferable to the contemporary criminal justice system.
More recently, Huckabee made the ridiculous and mean-spirited claim that LGBTQ people are “the biggest threat” to American morality.
Bottom line: Conservative Christian Mike Huckabee claims that COVID-19 isn’t the real danger, because the real danger is the “virus of sin.”
