The Devil Made Her Do It: Conservative pastor and right-wing radio host Kevin Swanson claims celebrated environmental activist Greta Thunberg is possessed by demons and in need of Jesus.
Speaking on his radio program yesterday, Swanson, a radical anti-LGBTQ radio host and conservative darling beloved by such GOP politicians as Ted Cruz, went after Thunberg, who was recently named Time’s Person of the Year
Swanson told his conservative Christian audience that Thunberg represented “the unraveling of the Western world,” while insinuating that because she has Asperger’s syndrome, she is demonically possessed and in need of Jesus.
Discussing Thunberg, Swanson said:
She’s psychologically disturbed. I have to say there is something very disturbing about the appearance of and the presentation of this Greta Thunberg. The other demonic spirits are using her to lead the world wherever it’s going.
Swanson added:
Friends, if this isn’t a quintessential demonstration of the death of the West, or what an entire empire, what multiple empires, look like at the verge of collapsing, this is it. It’s ridiculous. On the one hand, we want to be compassionate with Greta. I truly believe that Greta needs Jesus and short of her coming to Christ, I don’t know what is going to happen to this young lady. It is sad to see her in the condition that she is in.
For the record, Thunberg is not demonically possessed, and she does not need Jesus. Instead, Thunberg is a young hero standing up for the environment. However, the fact that she is young and female makes many insecure and weak-minded men like Swanson deeply uncomfortable, and so they lash out.
As for Swanson, he is no stranger to controversy. Last year the controversial conservative Christian pastor claimed that “God is burning down California” because the citizens of the state “legitimize the sin of homosexuality.”
Also last year, Swanson made headlines after blaming the victims of the Larry Nassar sexual assault scandal by claiming that “the immodesty” of U.S. gymnasts caused Nassar to sexually assault the underage gymnasts.
Previously the conservative Christian pastor argued that public schools that teach about gender identity should be burned to the ground because they violate God’s law.
And in 2016 Swanson called for the execution of Girl Scout leaders because they promote homosexuality.
Perhaps most alarming, in 2015 the controversial pastor hosted the “National Religious Liberties Conference,” an event attended by numerous 2016 GOP presidential candidates. At that time the controversial pastor called for the execution of all gays and lesbians.
Bottom line: Pastor Kevin Swanson claims celebrated environmental activist and Time’s Person of the Year Greta Thunberg is actually possessed by demons and in need of Jesus.
