Just when you thought you’d hit bottom on Trump’s ignorance and stupidity, he proves that he can get worse. In a meeting with his national security team, he actually askedwhy they can’t just nuke the eye of a hurricane to stop it from hitting the United States. No, this is not a joke.
President Trump has floated dropping nuclear bombs into hurricanes to stop them from hitting the United States in meetings with Homeland Security and national security officials, Axios reported Sunday.
According to sources who have heard the president’s private remarks and have been briefed on a National Security Council (NSC) memorandum, the suggestions were made during briefings on hurricanes.
“I got it. I got it. Why don’t we nuke them?” Trump said at one such White House briefing, a source who was there told Axios.
“They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can’t we do that?” the source added, paraphrasing the president’s remarks.
Because you’re an utterly clueless dolt. First of all, there’s no evidence at all that this would actually do anything. More importantly, it would also spread nuclear radiation far and wide. According to the source, the aide he mentioned it to gave him a placating answer of “Sir, we’ll look into that.” Yeah, I’m sure they took it very seriously while their eyes rolled to Mar-a-Lago and back. And this isn’t just anonymous source, there’s a 2017 NSC memo that details his question.
If you think nuking hurricanes is a good idea, you shouldn’t be running a Chinese fire drill, much less a country.
